Working out requires you to live healthily

Often, people think leading a healthy life means eating very little and doing absolutely nothing bad at all. This is not true. In order to stay healthy, you need to eat a balanced diet, get regular exercises and have the odd little treat. This'll keep you both healthy in body and mind. Why is this, though?
Well, often people decide: "I'm going to join the gym and get fit." They then neglect to change their diet. However a heavy gym routine requires a balanced diet that includes all the vitamins and minerals we need to get along in life. This doesn't mean eating salads for every meal and living on slimming shakes, though.
In order to a) have enough energy to get through your workouts, b) take in enough nutrients to replace those lost during exercise and c) have more energy thereafter to get through your daily activities, you need to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A great breakfast to have is something that'll give you the slow-release carbs you need to get through your workout and the few hours remaining before lunch. Wholemeal toast with low-fat, un-sweetened peanut butter is a good start. Accompany this with an apple or low-sugar yoghurt and you've got a winning combo. If that doesn't float your boat then why not have some wholewheat pancakes and strawberries? Or a 3-egg omlette?
Lunch is something different altogether. This is where a light salad really does come into its own, but if you don't want to succumb to the so-called 'rabbit' food, then think about having a protein-packed bean salad, or perhaps beans with wholemeal toast. Dinner is best consisting of half a plate of veg, together with a quarter plate of protein and a quarter plate of carbs.
You can of course supplement this diet with sports nutrition products, which'll give you another little boost in the gym.
The message is key - if you don't eat, you don't perform at your best in the gym or in any area of life. Eat well and you'll make the most of your work-outs - why waste all that hard work for the sake of taking in a few less calories?
