Bad breath is not only a social stigma but it could also be a symptom of a more serious problem. So, if you are suffering from bad breath, the way more than 90 million Americans do every year, you should attend to the problem right away.

Now, it is not unknown to us that garlic, onion, tuna and cheese etc. are known to cause bad breath. But, is there really a cure for garlic breath? Is there any natural remedy for bad breath? Read on.

Before trying to come to a solution, it is important that you understand the cause of the problem. In many cases bad breath is actually an indication that something far more serious is brewing inside. So, understanding the root cause of the problem is very important. Stomach and liver diseases are known to cause bad breath also. If you are suffering from such problems, you should talk to your doctor. For all other general purposes, the following natural remedies for bad breath are going to help you.

·         You need to first make sure that you practice the correct oral hygiene. It is very important that you brush your teeth after every meal or at least two times every day and floss at least once every day. This might seem to be too basic to be talked about but research has revealed that improper oral care regimen is responsible for bad breath in many cases. How frequently do you change your toothbrush? If the color of the toothbrush bristles has changed, you need to discard the brush immediately. If the bristles have radiated outwards, you need to get a new one. As far as toothpaste is concerned, you need to use one that has ingredients capable of killing bacteria effectively. Such ingredients include baking soda, zinc, chlorine dioxide and some antibacterial agents. A good toothpaste should be able to keep your mouth fresh for long hours after rushing.

·         Saliva has a very important role to play in preventing bad breath. Saliva dilutes the bad effects of bacteria inside the mouth and prevents bad breath. You need to keep your mouth must at all times to promote flow of saliva and its production. Small sips of water every couple of hours go a long way in doing that. You should also drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water everyday to keep your body hydrated and your mouth moist at all times. If you don't have the scope of rinsing your mouth every couple of hours, it's a good idea to rinse it while having a sip of water - the problem even if you swallow it after rinsing. This is going to remove the food protein molecules from inside your mouth and present growth of bacteria.

·         It is a good idea to keep chewing something to promote the production of saliva. However, you need to make sure that you don't increase your sugar intake in the process. Some natural breath fresheners include mint, parsley, cardamom seeds, cloves and fennel seeds. These are not only going to keep your mouth fresh but also promote the production of saliva that is going to dilute the effects of bacteria.

·         Vitamin B deficiency could also be responsible for causing bad breath. So, if you want to get rid of garlic breath, you could try taking vitamin B supplements regularly. 50 mg of vitamin B3 and 50 mg of vitamin B6 combined with vitamin B complex tablets could really help your cause.
