Candida is the scientific name of a fungus or yeast which is the most common cause of vaginitis. Reports show that vaginitis, the inflammation of the vagina, is very common among women.
A vaginal yeast infection occurs when there is more yeast present in the vagina compared to the good bacteria which safeguards the vulva against the bad ones. For example, taking antibiotics to treat a urinary tract infection can irritate the lining of the vagina and could lead to vaginal yeast infection.
