Easy skin care tips for winter

>> Saturday, November 26, 2011

Though people love the winter for its cold, breezy and snowy weather, few hate winters for the very fact that the skin cracks, wrinkles, undergoes abrasion and totally makes the skin look old and dull. Few common skin problems during winter include dry skin, rashes and redness, skin itching and irritation, skin flakes, cracks and other related skin problems. Let us know few common Skin care tips for this winter.

The best, easy and practical way to maintain your skin is by natural skin care methods. Also remember that the skin care should not only be limited to facial skin but also to the skin on your hands, legs, feet and head.

·        The first and important step in natural skin care is cleansing. Use a natural cleanser like coconut milk or oil which not only cleans your skin off the dirt but also nourishes it. Using a natural exfoliate cleanser also is a good choice. But remember to moisturize after using it.

·        Next would be to nourish your skin and to tighten the sagging dry skin. Use natural face masks and packs. Use carrot, cucumber, aloe or any vegetable or fruit products like apple skin etc, to prepare pastes for face packs.

·        One of the best dry skin care methods is to apply good natural moisturizer for your whole body. Avoid alcohol or petroleum based jelly moisturizers. This keeps your skin nourished and acts as a shield against harsh dry weather and cracking.

·        Itching and irritation can be avoided by taking oil bath. You may apply any natural oil like coconut, almond, aloe etc and wait for sometime before taking bath. This takes care of the scalp problem too!

·        Remember, because it is winter, you may tend to take a very hot water bath. Avoid this as it may wash out the oil from skin and dry out the sensitive oil secreting pores rendering your skin dry and vulnerable.

·        Do not forget to use sunscreen (with protection against UV), as UV is very much affecting your skin in winter too. Use gloves and socks as far as possible while going out.
Make your skin and body healthier from within. Consume loads of fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin C, D, E and minerals present in citrus fruits like lemon, orange, mosambi and common kitchen fruits like banana, mango, apple, papaya can do wonders for your skin when consumed regularly for over a period. Consume water and healthy liquids like coconut water, fruit juices etc, as much as you can. This acts as the best dry skin treatment during the winter!
