5 Tips To Maintain An Impeccable Eyesight
>> Monday, October 7, 2013
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, if my eyes are hazy, even Scarlett Johansson won’t have an effect on me. Our eyes are our most treasured possession. They allow us to witness the beautiful world around us. Can you imagine not being able to see? It’s a very scary thought. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think anybody’s going to help me cross the street if I was blind. That’s because I have never helped a blind man cross the street myself. You know what they say about karma. Here are a few tips to keep your eyesight healthy to avoid being handicapped in such a way.
I make this look cool

There is a genuine reason for you to wear sunglasses other than trying to look cool. Those damn UV rays are harmful to everything, including your eyes. The devastating power of the sun hitting your naked eyes is enough to burn the sight right out of them. There was a promotional game from Polaroid that was set in a dystopian future where you can’t step outside without your sunglasses. Looking at the alarming rate of global warming, I don’t think that day is far.
Eh… What’s up, doc?

I know you’ve been told this a million times, but it’s my job to repeat it. Carrots are good for your eyesight. Haven’t you seen Bugs Bunny munching on them all the time? And he’s the sharpest rabbit I know, so apparently they’re good for your brain as well. Keeping yourself hydrated at all times is also important for healthy eyesight.
Monitor your eyes

Oh God! My eyes are burning! I can feel a crawling sensation underneath them. Working long hours on a computer can do this to you. It’s not like I can avoid this, it’s my job. Or maybe I can. There’s no need for you to quit your jobs because of your computer monitor. Simply use ‘f.lux’. It’s a program that changes your monitor settings to warmer colors based on the time of day. That way you won’t feel like you’re staring at the sun.
I need my beauty sleep

A good 8 hours of REM sleep is needed not just to keep your mind fresh, but also to rest your eyes. Do you have any idea what your eyes witness throughout the length of the day? I’m pretty sure it isn’t pretty. You can even rest them during the day with a simple exercise. Rub your hands together until they’re warm and place them on your eyes.

Regular eye checkups are important to monitor your eyesight. They’ll tell you the difference between picture perfect and slightly blurry vision. Then you can take measures to correct your eyesight. An Optometrist can prescribe vitamins for your eyes and guide you through better eyesight management. After all, nothing beats the expertise of a professional. Once your tests are done ask your doctor, “So… What’s up doc?”
These tips will help you maintain an impeccable eyesight, so you can recognize Scarlett Johansson if she’s right in front of you. It’s not like opportunity strikes twice.
