Is This The Only Time You Would Pay For Someone to Fill Your Face In?
>> Wednesday, November 27, 2013
Facial fillers are
typically used for a variety of reasons, such as to rejuvenate the skin around
the face, to eliminate or at least dramatically reduce wrinkles, to replace
soft tissue, or even to enhance the lips. The actual fillers are products
including, collagen, calcium hydroxyl apatite and hyaluronic acid.
Unfortunately, the older we get, the more susceptible the skin becomes to
sagging and becoming wrinkly. This is typically due to years of being exposed
to the sun and the various muscle movements we make with our face on a daily
basis. This post investigates facial fillers in a little more detail.
What Are Facial Fillers?
Facial fillers involve
applying a number of injections to various areas of the face. The results can
vary from being temporary to lasting for an extremely long period of time,
depending on the actual type of filler that is used. Most commonly, each
different type of facial filler has been designed with a specific purpose in
mind. In order to determine the type of facial fillers that are most suitable
you should liaise with a dermatologist or other relevant medical professional.
The main purpose of facial fillers is to add more volume to areas of the face,
which may have become creased or wrinkled, or perhaps have lost fat and collagen
over a prolonged period.
Your body actually
contains hyaluronic acid, which is a natural filler substance, but as the face
ages you may start to notice all types of changes, such as wrinkles, lines and
a loss of volume. The most common types of hyaluronic acids used in facial
filler procedures tend to be Juvederm and Restylane, which are then injected
directly below the folds in the face. This should help to add volume once again
to the face, as well as give you a far more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers
are also often used around the mouth and lip area, which create a far more
youthful and beautiful looking frame.
How Long Do Facial Filler Injections Take and Are There Any Side Effects?
The injections
required typically take no longer than 10 to 20 minutes, although this does
largely depend on the person in question and the exact area of the face where
the injections are being applied. There are a number of side effects that you
should be aware of, but once again these can vary from person to person – these
include bruising, swelling, pain, numbness, discoloration, and even an allergic
reaction in some cases. However, remember that this is worst case scenario, and
mostly there is no downtime following treatment, so you can still carry on with
your day as normal.
However, for the first
24 hours following treatment you should avoid excessive exposure to the sun and
any vigorous activities. The results of these facial injections usually last anywhere from a few months to a
year, and this very much depends on the fillers and the amount used. It really
depends on the wrinkles or skin defect in question, as to how much filler is
going to be used. However, the vast majority of people who have undergone
facial filler treatment are extremely happy with the results.
